Hi there, it’s Ash, aka the Still Life Nomad! Yesterday I made my very first New Zealand dish: cheesy bacon and egg pie! I want to share my journey with you all.
First thing’s first, this was hands down one of the best foods I have ever tasted. I’m generally not even a fan of bacon! It smelled so good coming out of the oven.

I mean, just look at it. This was after it got cut, but still damn pretty.
This wasn’t without flaws though. See, I’ve never made a pie before outside of pumpkin pie so I had no idea different crust types existed. I simply grabbed the cheapest which happened to be… graham crust. I know what you’re thinking, it said graham crust couldn’t you infer that it would have been sweet? I was a bit confused, but I thought all crusts were graham. Anyways, big mistake. The filling was incredible, but the crust was sweet with savory and not a good mix. Don’t be like me: buy regular crusts!
